About Camden Town

Camden town is a vibrant cosmopolitan region of London. It is crowded with shops, bars, restaurants and fascinating markets where if you seek you are sure to find, for these markets have everything from food to fashion.

Looking around now it is hard to imagine that this heaving suburb was naught but a sleepy village in the 18th century with not much more than a few farms and coaching inns. The inns still survive, but with different names and a vastly different clientele. It is said they were once the haunt of highwaymen and smugglers!

During the Second World War some of the areas natural charm was lost, but All Saints church survives, along with other noted Victorian and Georgian buildings. Camden Lock with its famous market, offers lovely colourful walks, the opportunity for a boat trip and pleasant places to sit and soak up the lively atmosphere.
